Object Name Gown, Wedding
Description Two-piece wedding dress of brown silk faille, lined with brown twill. Bodice has high collar, fastening on proper right, covered with stomacher panel. Bodice closes with self-covered buttons at center front, then stomacher fastens over this with hooks and eyes on proper right. Two darts on either side of center front closure; side seams have been let out slightly. Internal waistband of cotton twill. Bodice comes to a point in front, and forms pleated peplum in back. Long, curved, two-piece sleeves, ending in applied faille cuff.

Skirt has faille foundation with two faille drapes. Foundation is brown cotton in back to knee-level; contains a channel for a curved steel to support bustle shape, and is finished with a double-box-pleated ruffle at the hem, which is interlined with buckram and faced with wool tape. Back drape is sewn at one end to proper right side back, and at other to proper left side back, with pleats sewn down to center back to create symmetrical bustle shape; hangs down to hem. Front drape is pleated to waistband and hangs freely on proper left; the proper right side is pleated into seam with back drape, causing asymmetry.
