Description Day dress of brown moiré silk, trimmed with bands of brown silk velvet with brown silk satin piping and knife-pleated satin ruffles. Bodice lined with glazed cotton, hem faced with plain cotton. Jewel neckline, trimmed with pleated white ruffle on inside. Center front closure to mid-thigh level (non-functional buttons continue on front of dress) with velvet-covered metal buttons. Two bodice darts on either side of closure. Two-piece curved sleeves with pointed cuffs in gown trim. Waist seam, with applied matching grosgrain ribbon on bodice side. Trim extends from shoulders to hem in front, meeting in back between shoulders. Skirt is gauged in center back; hem bound with velvet. Detached belt of moiré, bound with velvet.

Crepe placket behind buttonholes added at a much later date.
