Object Name Dress
Description Two-piece day dress of green, white, and black silk taffeta in alternating chiné (warp-printed) and geometric satin vertical stripes. Piped jewel neckline; center front closure with nine black silk velvet and green taffeta buttons (originally ten). Three darts at piped, pointed waistline on either side of closure. Piped armscye; wide, curved two-piece sleeves with vertical stripes, ending in row of green and beige silk fringe. Bodice and sleeves are flatlined with brown cotton twill; lower part of sleeves faced in white china silk. Three "tails" at back: center one applied, two on sides cut in one with side-back pieces.

Skirt lined with light brown glazed cotton to six inches above hem, where it is lined with darker brown. Pleated in front and gauged in back to waistband of glazed cotton and silk. Hem faced with green wool tape. Slightly longer in the back than the front.
